Abstract

Purpose of the study: The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) stands as one of India’s flagship social welfare programs, aiming to provide employment opportunities and sustainable livelihoods in rural areas. Amidst its multifaceted impacts, MGNREGA has emerged as a catalyst for women’s empowerment, particularly in rural communities. This study delves into the transformative journey of women within the framework of MGNREGA, highlighting their progression from mere beneficiaries to active participants and leaders in rural development initiatives. This study sheds light on the pivotal role played by women in various aspects of MGNREGA projects.
